Mint Lassi
A very refreshing yogurt drink to cool you down in the hottest weather.
Ingredients (makes about 1 litre)
I large pot of plain yogurt (about 400 mg) 1 handful fresh mint leaves ¼ tsp salt ¼ tsp black pepper Method Place all the ingredients in the blender and top up to the litre mark with cold water. Blend until smooth and frothy. Serve iced if you like. |
Options
Many people prefer lassi sweet, in which case leave out the mint, salt and pepper and add sugar to taste (perhaps 2 tbsp) and 2 or 3 green cardamom pods. You can also add mango, or other fruit, to the yogurt and water, with or without sugar. Many people enjoy a very creamy lassi, so you can add about 1 cup of cream to either the salty or sweet version. You can also use milk instead of water. I prefer the refreshing lightness of the thinner version. |
