Herbal Tea for Colds and Flu Recipe
A soothing, aromatic decoction with a good balance of warming and cooling spices, for a balancing effect on the body.
Ingredients
4 cups water 3 black cardamoms 1 handful fresh mint leaves 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and cut in slices 1 tsp fennel seeds 1 tsp black peppercorns 3 cloves |
Method
Place all the spices in the water in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer on a low heat, covered, for about 20 minutes. Strain all the bits out and serve one cup at a time throughout the day. Don’t keep the spices in the water on the saucepan because it will become very strong and bitter. Drink warm, either unsweetened or with a spoonful of honey to sooth the throat. This makes enough for a few cups throughout the day. |
